Talking about mental health is important
I believe 2020 is the darkest year for everyone, you switch on the television and all you can see is an increase in a number of people who are dying or suffering because of coronavirus but yes by the grace of god you can see some people getting cured as well. Although that’s not my point, what I want to say is “not all of us are a doctor” we want to help them but we cannot, we can only pray for their wellness. Today the world is shaken by hearing the news that noted actor Sushant Singh Rajput committed Suicide. He was one of my favourite actors and I followed him on Instagram all I could see that he was happy, he was sharing happy quotes, he was learning coding (which you can see in one of his pictures ). But “ let’s be real that we are not real on Instagram”, we share what we think that people will like. Sometimes sharing happy pictures on Instagram doesn’t mean that we are actually happy. I myself have an anxiety issue, when the COVID 19 cases started to increase so did my anxiety I couldn’t sleep at night thinking what will happen if I get corona or worse what If people I love get corona? but luckily I have people with whom I can talk to so eventually my anxiety got controlled. The problem is we are taught that “depression is bad, depression happens to weak people” but no it’s not true .we are humans, we have feelings ..we feel things and when we feel things we can be happy or sad but when we are overwhelmed with sadness it can lead us to depression.
Most of the people are not aware that they have depression. Why? Because first, “ we have not normalised the fact that depression can happen to anyone from weak person to a strong one so eventually we don’t know it’s accurate symptoms”. second “ most of the people are embarrassed to accept the fact that they have depression or anxiety”. As I mentioned in the beginning that “we see people suffering, as not all of us are doctors so we can’t do anything to cure them”.. but we are humans, we are social animals, we love to interact. So why not talk and interact with people who we feel can get into depression easily even though they are strong. And to the people suffering from depression, all I can say is “ you are strong, your mental health is important, every problem is temporary”.
So let’s normalise talking about mental health and end the stigma.
Thanks for sharing this,I strongly agree with you that depression can happen to anyone. Communicating in such times is very important and can keep us going

ReplyDelete"Sometimes sharing happy pictures on Instagram doesn’t mean that we are actually happy" .... TRUE!!! ... I've seen lot of people posing not just quotes but them selves in different angles to showoff that they are living Rich & Happy life, to find happiness in sharing the pics.
ReplyDeleteWish every one be really happy in their life, than showing off that they are happy :)

It is very important that people talk about mental health issues and discuss them with people they are comfortable with. Just like someone came by your gate with a hope of getting help in the light of friendship but never knew this world is always cruel to true hearts. But you make people stronger especially the ones looking for help but finding nothing but rejection even for just talking their heart out. You’re doing a great job you’re a great writer and I wish you all the luck. Thank you for not thinking twice why I approached you my only and only intention was to seek help but I guess I got to deal with this too alone as I’ve been doing all my life. Thank you Avantika Khajuria it was a pleasure knowing and learning from you.
ReplyDeleteYours truly :)
